Zane Smith, Executive Director/CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County provided an overview of the multitude of programs available to more than 7,000 children on a daily basis in Kern County (and Barstow!).  These include afterschool programs, day camps, teen programming, a robust nutrition program, a variety of athletic activities, a nationally recognized Performing Arts Team (who kicked off Amy's first meeting as President on July 18) and just wrapped up their Summer Jobs program.

Zane also shared details about their popular "Farm to Tableaux" event scheduled for Friday, October 5 with the theme: "Pop! Goes the Warhol"

President Amy provided a report of our Club's first Board Meeting, held on July 21st as well as announced upcoming Community Service Projects including the "Hot Dog Feed" on August 25.

We are excited to have District Governor, Sandi Schwartz joining us for our next meeting on August 1st (at the Bakersfield Museum of Art) for her official visit.  We will be doing our popular "Birthday Bags" as a Community Service Project during Sandi's visit too!
