On Saturday September 21, 2024, Rotary Twilight Members joined DG Sherry Sim, Bakersfield Sister City Project Corporation members, Mayor Goh and community members to celebrate the International Peace Pole Project at Mill Creek Park!

From the website worldpeace.org...

"A Peace Pole is an internationally-recognized symbol of the hopes and dreams of the entire human family, standing vigil in silent prayer for peace on earth. Each Peace Pole bears the message May Peace Prevail on Earth in different languages on each of its four or six sides. There are estimated over 250,000 Peace Poles in every country in the world dedicated as monuments to peace."

Here in Bakersfield, the Peace Pole was place in Mill Creek Park, a park with a walking path and creek that sits right next to the Bakersfield Museum of Art.

Our very own President Margaret Palmer and Secretary Brad Henderson joined our District Governor Sherry Sims.   Brad and Sherry said a few words regarding Rotary, peace and understanding around the world.  Mayor Goh of Bakersfield also spoke at the event.  What a great day!
