On August 7th, 2024, Rotary Twilight welcomed Esther Schlanger, co-director of Chabad Jewish Community!

Esther talked about the Holocaust and how irrational hatred is perpetuated over the years.  She also talked about the Chabad Jewish Community Center and how it aims in educating those in the community about the Jewish faith and Jews in general.  It is only through understand and acceptance that hatred can be eliminated.

Rotary then presented a check to the Red Cross for those affected by the Borel Fire!

Our International Service Director, Anselmo Moreno, then talked about the a story he read in the Rotary Magazine about "Third Places."  These are places where people go to socialize, with the first place being a person's home and the second place being a person's workplace.

There are three characteristics of a third place.  They are:
1.  Neutral ground
2.  Accessible
3.  Ordinary

These places allow people to connect with each other in a meaningful, non-connected way.  Great article!

B-RAD then gave us his Top-ten Unique Olympic Sports you may have not known about.  Catminton was new to all of us!

Finally, President Margaret went over our upcoming events.

With a Beer and Bingo Night on Monday at Temblor @ 7pm.  See ya there!
