What you missed! - Meeting Overviews
September 22, 2010 Twilight Meeting
President CAROL SMITH's email of
September 23 presented an excellent overview of the offsite meeting at
the Epic Jet Center hangar. So much so, that there is little for your
scribe of the month to add, as you will see below.
Although an excellent summary of
the event, President Carol's overview contained one minor error. "Play
it once, Sam. For old times' sake." This statement is probably the
closest Rick ever came in Casablanca to saying, "Play it again, Sam."
The following items may be added to President Carol's review as worthy of reportage:
LOUISE WEBER brought her husband,
CRAIG WEBER, to view the venue. Craig was in a position to observe
some of the typical irregular behavior that can occur during a Twilight
meeting.
PP CECIL MARTIN'S brother, ADAM
MARTIN, was also visiting. Adam, who has used his talents in the past
to benefit Rotary and Rotarians, will construct the all-important bar
in accord with the ambience of Rick's Cafe in the movie.
We learned that the facility's
restrooms would be available for the event, precluding the need for
the portable kind. Most Twilighters are accustomed to, and in favor of,
indoor plumbing.
Finally, some additional items of
note. AMY SMITH appeared to be constantly looking for a microphone,
after her success at Clear Channel during the last offsite. JEREMY
SWANSON seemed disappointed to learn that a 1940's band would probably
not be playing any dance tunes to which one could do the Jerk, the
Twist, the Boogaloo, or a Moonwalk. And we were all happy to learn
that JEANNE TUNNICLIFFE will be stocking the bar.
This concludes this report of the meeting's most relevant happenings.
